This course is a freshman level course, taught in the public school system, intended as a requirement for every student. It is meant to be an overview of life science GLEs, physical science GLEs and earth and space science GLEs. When I taught this course I followed the Model Course Guidelines for Integrated Science posted on the Louisiana Department of Education website. Because the textbooks adopted were physical science textbooks, any additional resources used were copied for my students to keep in their binder. The primary focus for this course was making sure the students has a strong foundation for science inquiry and a basic understanding of science as a whole.

This course is the freshman level, or eighth grade level for advanced students, at Rummel. The course is very similar to the integrated science course above, but is more in depth in the physical science GLEs. Regular eighth grade students at Rummel take Integrated Science, so this is a more physical based science. While there is a bit of life science at the beginning, the majority of the course is essentially a half physical science, half earth science course. When I taught this at Rummel I make adjustments to the integrated science course that taught and concentrated heavily on earth science. After teaching the seniors who had a very limited knowledge of earth science, I decided this was the best course of action to ensure mastery of concepts.
